Dentures are prosthetic devices constructed to replace missing teeth. They are supported by surrounding soft and hard tissues of the oral cavity. Conventional dentures are removable.  However, there are many different denture designs some of which rely on bonding or clasping onto teeth or dental implants. There are two main categories of dentures: mandibular arch, bottom teeth, or the maxillary arch, top teeth.

There are two types of dentures, Complete and Removable.

Complete dentures

Complete dentures or full dentures are worn by patients who are missing all of the teeth in a single arch, i.e the maxillary (upper) or mandibular (lower) arch.

Removable partial dentures

Removable partial dentures are for patients who are missing some of their teeth on a particular arch.  They may be made with metal framework or all plastic material.

Both the complete and partial dentures will require several visits for impressions, try-in's, delivery and follow-up adjustments. The number of visits will vary from person to person, with the minimum being 3-4.  Most visits will not be very lengthy.
